It’s like ordering rice at a restaurant, but the server brings out one piece of rice at a time and asks you to confirm that you want each one.

Your website is only as reliable as your backups. The North Star plan includes everything from Compass, but increases the frequency to five backups a day, so if you have an issue, you don’t have to roll your site back to yesterday.
True North also stores backups in two completely different locations in the world, just in case! Did you know, the government of Korea recently lost a massive amount of personal data because a data center burned down, and they had no offsite backups?
Backups are important to us, because your data is important to us!
You need to know your site is on track. We check that your site is online every five minutes (instead of hourly) so that you always know your site is online, and we can fix issues faster when they happen.
Uptime monitoring is great, but if there’s a critical error on your site, an uptime monitor won’t catch it. We don’t want your visitors to encounter errors. We run error notification software so that we know about errors on your site before anybody else, and can take corrective actions.
Your site has changing needs, so you add plugins to it. Rather than one initial plugin audit, North Star clients receive regular plugin audits to ensure the security and optimization of their site. With ongoing plugin audits, you can rest assured that your plugins are doing exactly what they’re supposed to, without slowing things down or risking security.
Updates are important, but they can be risky when done without oversight. We apply WordPress core, theme, and plugin updates carefully. Plus we’ll resolve any small issues that arise.
We take extra responsibility for your site’s security at the server level. We impose stricter security policies so that bad actors aren’t able to knock on the door.
No security stack can fully account for vulnerabilities introduced by third-party code, and WordPress’s open ecosystem, while powerful, means that risk is always present. We run periodic malware scans to catch anything that may have crept in undetected. In addition to automatic optimization, in Trail Guide we also manually inspect and optimize your site images. If WordPress’s configuration is serving images in a size that is too large, we’ll size them appropriately, keeping page size and load times down, and improving Google Web Core Vitals.
We set up and configure Search Console, monitor technical notifications, and troubleshoot crawl or indexing issues. This ensures Google receives the best technical signals from your site, and will display your site properly in search results.
