Getting started

What exactly do you handle for my website?

We manage the technical operation of your WordPress site — including hosting, updates, backups, security, monitoring, and ongoing maintenance. We also handle small fixes and adjustments so your site continues to run smoothly.

Will I still own and control my website?

Absolutely yes.

You retain full ownership and control of your website at all times. Your domain, content, and business remain entirely yours. Working with My True North does not transfer ownership or lock you into our

Do I need to be technical to work with you?

Not at all! Our service is designed for site owners who don’t want to manage the technical side of WordPress. We translate issues clearly and handle the work for you.

Who is this service best suited for?

Our services are ideal for bloggers, creators, and small businesses who rely on their website and want it cared for properly without needing to think about hosting, updates, or troubleshooting.

Hosting & infrastructure

Do you provide hosting, or do I keep my current host?

On the North Star and Trail Guide plans we do. We feel we do our best work when we can manage your tech stack from the bottom to the top.

Is this the same as regular web hosting?

No. Traditional hosting gives you space on a server and leaves the rest up to you. We provide managed WordPress hosting plus ongoing care, monitoring, and support.

Will my site go down during migration?

In most cases, no. Migrations are carefully planned and tested to minimize or avoid downtime entirely. If there is a disruption it will typically be no longer than a minute. We can schedule this for off-peak hours, according to your needs.

What happens if my site experiences downtime?

We monitor sites continuously and are alerted quickly if there’s an issue. Our goal is to resolve problems before you even notice them, and certainly before your website visitors do.

Updates, maintenance, & security

Why are WordPress updates important?

Updates keep your site secure, compatible, and performing well. We apply updates carefully and test changes to reduce the risk of issues.

What if an update breaks my site?

If something doesn’t go as expected, we handle the fix and restore your site if needed. That’s part of the service.

Do you handle backups?

Yes. We run regular off-site backups and can restore your site if something goes wrong. Unlike many other web backup services, we are able to restore the precise files that need restoration, rather than rolling back your entire site to a previous point in history. This way you don’t lose any information.

Do you handle security?

We actively monitor for common security issues, keep software up to date, and respond quickly if a concern arises.

Support & Course Corrections

What counts as a ‘course correction?’

A support request (or Course Correction) is a small, discrete task — such as fixing a display issue, updating content, or adjusting a setting — expected to be completed in under 30 minutes.

What if I need something bigger done?

Larger projects, redesigns, or custom development are handled separately and quoted in advance.

How do I request support?

We have a simple (ie: short!) form on our website for you to fill out. We’ll confirm details and take care of the rest.

How quickly do you respond?

Response times vary by plan, but we prioritize issues that affect site functionality or availability.
